FindPros helps homeowners get home projects done well and helps home service professionals grow their business. We started in 2021 with a simple goal to help people find skilled pros in their area.
FindPros Code of Conduct

At FindPros, we’re proud to connect homeowners with trusted home service professionals to get projects done right. Our mission is to create a positive, seamless experience for everyone involved — and that begins with shared values.

To support a safe and respectful environment, we ask all users — both pros and homeowners — to uphold the following principles:

Respect One Another Treat each other with courtesy and care. Respect each other’s time, space, and property. If disagreements arise, work collaboratively to find a resolution.

Act Fairly Pros should provide high-quality service at reasonable prices. Homeowners should recognize and respect the time, effort, and costs involved. Reviews should reflect the actual experience — fair, honest, and earned.

Maintain Professionalism Clear communication, punctuality, and professionalism are key. Present yourself respectfully, stay in touch throughout the project, and foster a positive working environment.

Be Honest Stick to your commitments. Be upfront about your expectations and limitations. Pros should disclose if a project is outside their skillset or license. Homeowners should be transparent about their intentions and communicate if plans change.

Be Reliable Respond to messages promptly. Honor appointments and show up on time. Reliability builds trust — don’t leave others guessing.

Support Inclusivity We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind — including based on race, gender, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or background. Everyone deserves equal treatment and opportunity.

Accountability Matters Failure to follow this Code of Conduct may result in removal from the FindPros platform. We’re committed to maintaining a trustworthy community for all.
Yes. You can use FindPros to compare and research local service professionals and request project quotes – all for free.
When you’re requesting quotes and working directly with pros on your projects, we recommend that you get at least three quotes and pay close attention to bids and contracts. If something is unclear, be sure to ask questions and get clarification.
When a company is added to FindPros, we ask them to attest to their licensing. Professionals can indicate on their profile if they are registered, bonded, and insured. Since this information is self-reported, we strongly encourage you to check with the provider and regulatory agencies in your area for their most up-to-date information. Visit our License Check tool to see which regulatory agencies you can contact to verify licensing.
Licensing, Registration, Bonds & Insurance: What Homeowners Should Know

Licensing A license indicates that a contractor has met state-mandated requirements to legally perform specific types of work. In most cases, obtaining a license involves passing exams on trade skills and business practices, paying a fee, and providing proof of insurance or bonding. Be sure to check your local and state regulations, as licensing requirements can vary.

Registration Registering as a contractor typically involves submitting proof of insurance and paying a registration fee. Some areas may require bonding, but competency testing is rare. Compared to licensing, registration is generally a less rigorous process. In some parts of the country, the terms “licensed” and “registered” are used interchangeably — so it’s important to clarify what each means in your area.

Bonding A bond is a form of financial protection for homeowners. It’s an agreement between the contractor and a third-party surety company or a recovery fund managed by the local licensing authority. If a contractor fails to fulfill obligations — such as completing the work properly or paying subcontractors — the homeowner can file a claim to recover financial losses.

Insurance Always verify that your contractor carries proper insurance before hiring them. Request a Certificate of Insurance, and contact the issuing provider to confirm that the coverage is active and sufficient for your project.

The two most common types of insurance are:

General Liability Insurance: Covers property damage or injuries caused by the contractor’s work. It does not typically cover the cost of correcting poor workmanship — that’s what a bond is for.

Workers’ Compensation Insurance: Provides wage and medical benefits to employees injured on the job, regardless of who’s at fault. In the event of a fatal accident, it also offers support to the worker’s family. Note: If the contractor is a sole proprietor with no employees, workers’ comp may not be legally required.

By understanding these key protections, you can make smarter, safer decisions when hiring a professional for your home project.
